Shell Graphix sponsors My Ormeau Car Rally 2011

At Shell Graphix we are big on giving back to our community. So much so that we built the Northern Gold Coast community their very own community website.

www.myormeau.com.au not only serves as a news and information hub, business directory and networking tool but it also brings an annual Car Rally event to the area each year.

In 2010 the My Ormeau Car Rally attracted 76 competitors who all tried their best to take out the selection of trophies and prizes. With only a gold coin donation to compete and hundreds of dollars of prizes up for grabs it is a cheap and exciting day out.

On May 29, 2011 the second annual Car Rally event will be run and this year there are 27 trophies and prizes up for grabs. If you are up for a bit of old fashioned fun make sure you pre-register (to avoid waiting in lines on the day) at www.myormeau.com.au.

Shell Graphix have not only designed and developed My Ormeau but we also run this annual event and donate several prizes on the day. It’s all in the name of fun!

Please come by and say hello on the day. We hope to see you there!

Award winning graphic and website designs

Firstly we want to congratulate Simply For Strings, a Brisbane based string instrument specialist, for their fantastic victory in winning two awards from Australian Music Association (AMA) this week. The awards were for Best Print Promotion and Best Website Design. It was certainly a joint project in creating both of these stand out designs and once again we would like to point out that the more effort you put into something – the more you get out of it. Simply For Strings are always up for something creative, unique and interesting.

Secondly we want to touch on the benefits of interlinking the world of print and web.

If you are using Social Media in your business then you should ensure that you are cross promoting it into your print material. Many companies are only pushing their website or social media elements online when in reality there are a lot of benefits to reminding readers on flyers, brochures, billboards, advertising and stationary. With an increase in the amount of people embracing social media it is the little reminders that motivate further into connecting and interacting with you. Interaction is key – as soon as you have a captive market it is much easier to sell products and services to them.

Simply For Strings recently purchased a double page spread in a music industry publication. Rather than taking the usual ‘sale item’ or ‘here are our products’ angle they pushed a simple message about what they do and then left the simple suggestion that readers should jump to facebook and interact with them. It is human nature to want to share. Taking advantage of that will result in a stronger reaction and get them to the blog, facebook or website (which is always the desired objective). Rather than give the direct Facebook link they are strategic in getting viewers to the website first where some may get side-tracked by the online store or product line before ending up at Facebook to interact. Added incentive never hurts either and it shows that being a “fan” has it’s benefits.

Frontline Defence Services Website redesign

Having worked with Frontline Defence Services for the past six years we have had the pleasure of creating not one, but two websites. Since the last creation back in 2005 a lot has changed when it comes to the way consumers embrace the world of web. Frontline made the leap to not only update the visuals and content on the website but are also now utilising Social Media (Facebook) and blog interaction between each of their bases. To help educate and inspire their customers they have added a comprehensive history zone as well as vending totals so they can see how much funding goes back into their local base.

The brief was to create a full new website with a range of interaction and features with the ability to self maintain and update moving forward following the launch. We linked some elements through to WordPress management and others through to custom databases which are all controlled through a simple back-end. This kept costs under control whilst still allowing for full freedom and no limit on features.

Ezidebit Direct Marketing

Ezidebit recently came to us asking for suggestions on creating a unique marketing piece directly aimed at the martial arts industry. We supplied three suggestions back and they decided to run with the first one. Based on the idea it was for the martial arts industry we found it vital to speak their language and aim at something close to their heart. As a Japanese inspired art we instantly thought of another form – origami.

The ability to engage the audience is tricky. Especially via direct mail pieces. If you can hold the attention long enough to get the brand across you have succeeded. With this in mind we created a simple DL flyer that had a simple message on one side and directions on how to build a Crane on the other. The messages all interlinked. It was an interactive piece built to hold the attention and challenge the mind.

A project that had no limit on budget ended up being not only cost effective but productive in delivering a well themed message to a select demographic.

Marketing pieces and designs should be fun, clever and memorable. They are the ones that stick in the memory.
